As well as being a regular volunteer and a sessional education tutor at Blashford Lakes, Nigel Owen has a business with his wife Christine called Walking Picnics. Following their success and popularity when catering from the centre in support of the Blashford Local Craft Fair and the Blashford 20th Anniversary events earlier in the year we have come together to trial a “pop up” cafe at the centre this winter.
Linking the launch in with the New Forest Food and Drink Festival, Blashfords Pop Up Cafe will open its doors for the first time this Sunday, 6th November, from 10.30am-3.30pm and Nigel and Christine are very much looking forward to purveying hot drinks alongside their delicious home-made snacks and cakes so remember your cash if planning a visit this weekend!
They will be back again on the 20th November and then the first and third Sundays of the month there on in from now through to the end of March.
The Wildlife Trust will benefit directly from the cafe sales and we very much hope that this added “service” will be of benefit to our existing visitors and may even entice a few new visitors to the nature reserve too. And if it goes well for everyone concerned we can look forward to more pop up cafe openings in the future!

“Walking Picnics” – Christine and Nigel
Excellent news. Look forward to trying it out soon.
That’s great, very badly needed on cold winter days.
Nice one. Well overdue. Hope it succeeds.
