Well actually we’re celebrating just over 20 years, the Education Centre being opened by Professor David Bellamy on the 16th July, 1996.

Everyone is welcome to join us for our open day from 10.30-3.30pm tomorrow (22nd July), where there will be opportunities throughout the day for pond dipping, river dipping, sweep netting, bird watching and looking through the contents of the moth trap. Refreshments will also be on sale in the centre classroom, courtesy of “Walking Picnics”, and at 1.30pm the Chief Executive Officer Of Hampshire and Isle Of Wight Wildlife Trust, Debbie Tann, will be joined by representatives of our project funding partners, Bournemouth Water, New Forest District Council and Wessex Water and other guests to say a few words in honour of our event and ceremoniously cut the obligatory birthday cake!
If you are a regular visitor who was planning on visiting tomorrow, be warned that it will (hopefully!) be busy on the reserve in Tern Hide and around the Centre side of the nature reserve and that car parking will be restricted (with the exception of limited disabled car parking at the centre) to the main nature reserve “Tern Hide” car park only.
