Many thanks to David for sending in these two pictures to blashfordlakes@hiwwt.org.uk. He took them yesterday, but it was performing again this morning! Wasn’t there when I checked this afternoon (maybe it will be back when I lock up!?) but many visitors had good views of it first thing this morning and again later on when, as usual, it came back from the river with a fish.
Good views of kingfishers from both Ivy Hides on and off all day and a fly past in front of Tern Hide this afternoon and lovely earthstars now “blooming” in the usual spot between the Centre and Woodland Hide.
No otter sightings though ;-(
Hi Jim, Thanks for your e-mail. Great views of the osprey. Less welcome was the sight of mink between Goosander and Lapwing hides last Thursday week. I guess that these have always been around but it’s the first time that I have seen them at Blashford. Best wishes, Paul
Hi Paul. Unfortunately they are a regular, though not constant, feature of the reserve, more often seen on Ivy Lake than around Ibsley. Any otters in residence will usually move them on! Jim.
