Garganey, more martins and first grass snakes of the year.

The garganey turned up again yesterday on the far side of Ibsley Water, then again today at 9.20am on Ivy Lake, but has remained elusive since. Other sightings today included:

61 sand martins, 8 goldeneye, 2 oystercatchers – Ibsley Water

Mealy redpoll – Woodland hide

A singing blackcap in the sallow coppice area, 2 grass snakes and 4 adders were also of note.

Opposite the woodland hide, in the area of wet alder woodland there is a large patch of opposite-leaved golden saxifrage in flower, a plant of damp ancient woodland.
