Unfortunately we have been told that the hot drinks vending machine in the education centre is not making enough money… Here is a picture of a sign now on the machine, that explains the situation in more detail:
Birds in the hide log books today:
Bittern, green sandpiper- Ivy South Hide
Water rail – Ivy North Hide
Red-crested pochard – Goosander Hide
Goldeneye – Tern Hide
The bittern was seen in the reed on the far side of Ivy lake and also from the southern screen on the Rockford path on the eastern side of Ivy lake. Reed buntings are being seen in the birch scrub along the path that approaches Goosander Hide fairly regularly, with at least 3 birds this afternoon. The roosting starling flocks have not been as impressive the last couple of days but the gull roost on Ibsley Water has been huge, with many thousands of birds present this evening.
