Three bittern day

Very busy today, so no pictures and not many more words! We (Michelle and I) were busy brewing up campfire cups of tea, making bird feeders and had a quick visit to Tern and Woodland Hides towards the end of the day with the Romsey Young Carers Project where we saw what we expected to see with 10 “lively” young people(!) but there were reports from various people of the bitterns performing nicely (there was one out at the start of the day, and I guess this was there for the duration and joined later by two additional birds). Visitors were delighted by the sight of all three actively feeding in full view at the same time, and to top things off some also saw the redhead smew at the same time too!

The five barnacle geese are still out on Ibsley Water.

Another busy day for us again tomorrow with The Big Blashford Birdwatch holiday activity “Playday” for 8-12 year olds. You have been warned!
